Biography

A native of Hollister, California, born on February 12, 1961, Richard Lujan, the third child of Ben Lujan and the late Lydia Alvarez was to begin his life in a rural community, never expecting what life would bring in his future. He attended local elementary and junior high schools, the family moving to the Coachella Valley, he completed his education there.

While as a young boy, Richard loved music, he was inspired by the music in his parent's church, hoping to be able to participate in the music program someday. He accompanied his mother Lydia to piano lessons taught my Mrs. Betty Hodges, never missing those lessons, sitting by his mom as she played the piano. He looked forward in attending those piano lessons, rather than staying behind to play with his brothers at Dunne Park. Never did anyone think that someday Richard was the child beside the parent who literally learned to play the piano by sitting at his mom's side watching her take those piano lessons. As a teenager, he took the initiative of participating in the church music program, trying to write his own songs and knowing well that someday his wish to write a song would be granted. Today, Richard affirms that due to the promise of a church elder who noticed his talent in this young man, who encouraged him that he would someday record spiritual music and people would be inspired by his talent of composer, writer and recording artist. That day came true for Richard.

While his life was met with obstacles and hardships, times of sadness and despair, Richard looked to God for guideness and support. His mom passed away at a young age of 41 years while Richard was 23 years of age. His wife and child both passed away 3 months after his mom. Some depressions set in, but with the help of his dad and family, Richard was able to move forward in his life and concentrate on his music and song. He wrote songs about his profound feelings and personal experience that touched the hearts of many. Today his songs are written for the purpose of touching the heart and soul and for lifting the spirit. His unique talent of composing spiritual music has earned him a designation of acclaimed composer, recording artist of a new channel of healing music.

To his family and friends, Richard is a recording artist/composer with a gift and a blessing. His voice will inspire your soul to open and expand. His songs will resonate with our deepest beliefs and longings. His songs will carry you to heights and fly you through your life's past and future with praise. His recordings will allow you to experience and uplift in your spirit, will touch your heart and free your mind.

Religion and a deep sense of spirituality have always been key elements in Richard's life. His songs are a heartfelt mixture of particular richness in spiritual music. His music is a combination of real life experiences of forgiveness, surrender, courage, acceptance, release and faith. Altogether, his music will touch everyone's heart, it is a deep emotional call to growth and a connection with the Higher Spirit.

Richard's musical mission is to share with others songs that will encourage, uplift and inspire everyone to know the true values of our place in this world, and the beauty of our essence. Whether about a joyous celebration of life, or a soothing message to get someone through a rough time, his songs are the tools for self awareness, growth, and healing. Richard has endured difficulties in life and never given up, his music is a testomony that one can endure and through personal talent at times unknown to one self, can change people's lives through a spiritual song.

Today, Richard records from his own recording studio in Indio, California under the label B&A, named after his twin sons Benjamin and Alex Lujan. His goal is to market his CDs in churches, coffee houses and businesses where people can enjoy his music.
